Thank
you for your interest in receiving training at the
Mental Health Center at Gallaudet University.
Applications for the
Mental Health Counseling 2008 Practicum Position
are due by 5
p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2007.
Selected applicants will be
contacted for interviews by October 25, 2007.
Once interviews are completed, applicants will be
notified of their acceptance by e-mail.
Contact Dr. Mary Hufnell (mary.hufnell@gallaudet.edu)
if you have any questions about the application
process.
Applications must
include:
1) a cover letter
indicating your interest in the position;
2) a resume or
curriculum vita;
3) two
letters of recommendation with at least one letter
from your department;
4) a 10-15 minute
videotape of a mock (with a volunteer “client”)
which is conducted using American Sign Language;
5) evidence
of a 3 or better rating on the GU-ASLPI
Please Note:
Because of ethical concerns, applicants cannot
have multiple relationships with the MHC or the
Gallaudet student population. Thus, they
cannot be past or current clients of the MHC or
receive services as a client in the future.
Some jobs on campus, such as in the residence
halls or other part-time positions on campus, can
create dual relationships. Therefore, it is
possible that practicum students will not be able
to hold certain positions on campus while in
training at the MHC. Discuss any concerns
you have about this issue with Dr. Mary Hufnell.
